Kindly remember that this survey was taken in 2007.
ENTERTAINMENT/SPORTS AND CULTURE
This was dependent on the efforts of a few or through a social and welfare committee where one was available.
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES/PERSONAL SAFETY
The apparent absence of or delays in the establishment of an Occupational Safety and Health Committee appeared to employees as evidence of a lack of will by Management to implement the conditions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
Accidents and environmental issues continued to be a sore point among unionized workers.
FOOD AND CLOTHING
There was a claim by the Union Representatives that approximately twenty thousand workers in the Public Service were categorized between Grades 6 and 9,and the difficulties to provide these necessities were compounded by the high cost of living and the linking of the U.S. dollar to some purchases.
GOD, CHURCH, FELLOWSHIP
Racial undertones and bias were thought to have affected every strata of the society including the Church and the workplace.
Recent attacks by several communities on some churches were seen as evidence that Religion was not viewed as having an equal place under the Constitution of Trinidad and Tobago.
These attacks were being considered to be in retaliation for public verbal attacks on well-established religions in a mixed racial and religious society.
