Professor Ryan et al have said
nothing new, as we have been saying that for years; and cock will get teeth
before real action is taken. Hoops for life is just a plaster as are several
other so called knee-jerk responses.
So close down youth camps throughout the
country, get rid of OPVs and Blimp, fund another rounds of reports while
previous studies gather dust, and in the meantime the people wait. And the sad
thing about it, is that successive Administrations are equally as guilty of
abandoning the old in favour of the new. Anyway it might just be me being
cynical, as usual.
"The inaugural Hoop of Life Community Basketball League competition was staged at a cost of $12 million. This was revealed by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar during yesterday’s prize-distribution ceremony at St Barb’s Basketball Court, Laventille. However, she said the million-dollar first prize, which was won by Laventille, will be increased by a further $500,000 for this year’s tournament, which is set to begin next month."
